Joe Cullen insists he is good enough to win a major after he claimed the European Darts Matchplay championship.
Cullen, nicknamed’Rockstar’, landed his maiden European Tour title with an impressive victory over world # 1 Michael van Gerwen in the closing.
The 30-year-old from Bradford now includes three PDC standing titles but he has set his sights major glory in the forthcoming months.
“One hundred percent it’s about time that I got to a European Tour final, let alone winning . It has been a long time coming,” said Cullen, who’s back in the world’s top 16.
“To conquer the man himself MVG at the last would be a dream come true, I can’t put into words how pleased I am at that minute.
“Hopefully this will get me to the Grand Slam, since I’ve never played with that tournament in my own career.
“If I’m good enough to win one of these then I am good enough to win a big.”
It is not long to wait until darts is back on Sky Sports, the World Grand Prix gets underway on Sunday, October 6 in Dublin’s Citywest Arena and seven times of policy continues until the closing on Saturday, October 12.
