Senior Year Reflections

2005 september. What was on my brain: homecoming, football games, AP chemistry homework, dance business practice, and finding a meal line that ended up beingn’t too long. Thus started my senior year of highschool at a large school that is public Utah.

Nine years have passed and my knowledge associated with the college process has changed immensely very first due to my own college experience, and also because of could work in admission. If you are reading this web log, you’re far in front of where I had been at of my senior year september. I did not know there were hired specialists at universities and universities who helped pupils through the method. Used to don’t know about the style of fit. I thought everyone else desired to get directly to the top ranked universities, and that any pupil, if smart enough, could be delighted.

I expanded up in an area where individuals didn’t leave hawaii. It had been common for people to attend university, but none of my peers looked beyond the general public and schools that are private Utah. The application form procedures were easy and mostly stress-free. The biggest stressor had been determining which in-state institution one would go to. Thoughts about where to attend college had started initially to enter my mind. I usually knew i might go, and itched for one thing beyond exactly just what I’d experienced growing up in Utah, but hadn’t actually developed a list of schools. Seriously, I didn’t also understand that ended up being anything.

I did not understand that other students had university guidance counselors shepherding them through the method. Used to don’t realize that other pupils had ACT and SAT tutors to help them enhance their scores. I didn’t understand that some parents and schools arranged university visit trips. I’m certain there have been pupils who’d visited more universities and colleges than I had even heard about.

But this ended up being my experience. Also it might be yours too. Perhaps you too are hoping to venture beyond your community after high school. Possibly you can expect to become using for schools of that you had beenn’t familiar until this year. And perhaps your focus right now is in the courses you are taking and your extracurriculars. There clearly was still the required time to work it all away.

We’ll be blogging about my reflections of my senior year timeline over the next month or two, so stay tuned. I am excited to relive this journey with you!
